A Home Shaped by Cilento
Many of the pieces you see today were created by Cilento artisans we met while searching for the house. In a way, we found them while we were finding Mirto. Wood, Cilento stone, marble, terracotta, natural cement tiles and resin became the common language of the house. The rooms are deliberately understated — simple, natural and quiet. We never wanted the interiors to compete with what surrounds them. Here, nature is the real decoration. And Mirto is never quite finished. Whenever we discover something we love — perhaps from a local artisan or during one of our travels — another corner of the house changes. A wall finds its piece. An empty space finds a purpose. Mirto gains another little story. It continues to grow with us. Perhaps, if you return one day, you will discover something that wasn’t there before.

Outside, life follows the seasons. Our vegetable garden almost always has something to offer: tomatoes, aubergines, green peppers, hot chillies and plenty of basil. If something is ready, pick it. Around Mirto, approximately 250 organic olive trees give us our own extra virgin olive oil, which you will always find in the kitchen. And please, use it. Open the cupboards. Take out the pots and pans. Pick something from the garden. Cook with your family and friends. This is our kitchen too. It is meant to be used. You may also find Cilento dried figs or something else we have brought home from one of the small local producers we love. These aren’t amenities placed here for guests. They are simply part of our life at Mirto. Our donkeys quietly graze the different plots of land, helping us keep them naturally clean. In summer, the cicadas provide the soundtrack. And because we love dogs, the property is completely fenced, allowing your four-legged friend to explore, run and find a shady spot beneath an olive tree — without you having to worry about an unexpected adventure chasing a wild boar
